Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia

Immersed within lush Malvasia vineyards and surrounded by deep blue seas, the Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia is a spectacular estate set on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Aeolian Islands.

Capofaro is located on Salina, the greenest island of the Archipelago, with its two distinctive extinct volcanos. Nestled atop a gentle cliff facing the islands of Panarea and Stromboli, Capofaro is a sanctuary of peace and relaxation.  

The owners and caretakers of the land, Conti Tasca d’Almerita, are an aristocratic family and well-known Sicilian wine producers for eight generations. They have imbued Capofaro with their unwavering passion for winemaking and excellent food; with their warm and genuine hospitality; and their outmost respect for the environment and the local communities.

Capofaro’s 27 rooms and suites, with their bright minimal architecture and design, are the very expression of the Aeolian architectural style: whitewashed surfaces, white columns and shadowy patios overlooking the placid expanse of the Mediterranean Sea.

One of the distinctive features is the operational historical lighthouse (‘Faro’ in Italian, hence Capofaro’s name), with its reassuring beam of light brightening the path that winds through the estate.  

The core of the property is the generous freshwater pool and its spacious solarium terrace framed by vineyards and a pinewood. Not far, but secluded, lies the  garden spa which offers a variety of holistic treatments. Sport lovers can enjoy a game of tennis in the court by the lighthouse, while yoga and meditation classes are held in various venues within the estate.  

In the restaurant, guests can enjoy the creations of  Executive Chef Ludovico: a harmonic combination of traditions of the ‘monsu’ - cooks of the Sicilian and Neapolitan aristocratic houses - and farmers’ knowledge handed down from generation to generation. Following a ‘zero kilometre’ approach, the organic garden provides 70% of the ingredients used by the kitchen team.  

The Cocktail Bar by the main terrace comes alive for memorable sundowners. The brand-new Wine Bar dominating the Amphitheatre vineyard showcases, amongst others, all the wines produced by Tasca d’Almerita in their five estates across Sicily and offers an enhanced wine programme of pairings and tastings.
