10-Day Scottish Whisky Tour

Discover Scotland and its amazing whisky with this 10-day fully driven tour of a selection of Scotland's finest whisky distilleries. With breathtaking locations and century-old traditions, visiting the stills and meeting the people behind the world's most famous malt whiskies makes Scotland a must-visit destination for any whisky afficionado. 

Itinerary:

Day 1: Upon arrival, you will be collected at either Aberdeen or Inverness airport by your chauffeur, who will take you to your hotel in the heart of Speyside.

Enjoy a whisky flight tasting from a hand-picked collection of Scottish malts, before a traditional Scottish dinner. The hotel is a mecca for whisky lovers. Surrounded by stunning countryside and in the heart of Scotland’s most productive whisky region, you will be immersed in the Water of Life from the outset!

Day 2: You will visit some very famous distilleries including Macallan, Glenfarclas, and Glenlivet.

For lunch, the backdrop will be one of the most beautiful and historic castles in Scotland, Ballindalloch, giving you the opportunity to enjoy lunch in beautiful surroundings.

Day 3: Today you will visit Benriach and Glendronach distilleries, and The Speyside Cooperage.

Lunch will be at a characterful whisky restaurant in Aberlour. All of the distilleries offer a great visitor experience as well as the opportunity to buy some of your favourite spirits at the very source. With breathtaking locations and century-old traditions, visiting the stills and meeting the people behind the world's finest malt whiskies makes Speyside a must-visit destination for any whisky lover.

Day 4: Today will be a travelling day, incorporating the world famous Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Urquhart castle dates back to the 13th century and is one of the largest castles in Scotland. Loch Ness is best known as the home of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, fondly known as Nessie. There are plenty of photo opportunities today. This relaxing and scenic drive through The Great Glen will end in Fort William with a visit to Ben Nevis Distillery after which you will check into your hotel.

Day 5: After a delicious Scottish breakfast you will take the ferry to The Ardnamurchan peninsula. A lovely single track road winds its way down the shores of Loch Sunart to The Ardnamurchan Distillery. This distillery is environmentally friendly and in an incredibly picturesque location. After a tour and tasting, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at the nearby wildlife centre cafe.

After lunch, a bit of island-hopping is required, so you will be taken from the peninsula over to Mull, across the island and over to Oban where you will spend the night.

Day 6: An early start today to catch the ferry to Islay. Pronounced ‘eye-la’, Islay lies at the southern end of the Inner Hebrides and is one of the five Scottish whisky distilling regions whose identity is protected by law. The Southern end of the island produces the most intensely peated whiskies and that is where today’s visits will focus. Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg are the distilling destinations on the itinerary today.

Day 7: Islay is known as ‘The Queen of The Hebrides’, the capital of Islay is Bowmore. Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain, and Kilchoman will be today's distillery visits, (of which there are a total of eight working), with other stops available en route if time allows. Lunch will be at Kilchoman. Whisky is one of the most important sources of income on the island, along with tourism and agriculture. The three are part and parcel of the island’s daily life, as you will see.

Day 8: From Islay, you will travel by ferry to Campbeltown for a tour and tasting of Springbank Distillery. Located on the Kintyre Peninsula, Springbank is a family owned distillery which goes back five generations. It was built in 1828 on the site of an illicit still owned by one of the family’s forebears. After lunch at a nearby hotel, you will fly to Glasgow. This short hop saves a long drive. At the other end, in the thriving metropolis of Glasgow, a boutique hotel in the city centre awaits. 

Day 9: The Clydeside Distillery and Glengoyne Distillery are today’s destinations. Famous for its Victorian and Art Deco design and architecture, the vibrant city of Glasgow was once home to over 20 distilleries. Now the city is celebrating the recent launch of The Clydeside Distillery which celebrates not only Glasgow’s distilling heritage but also the might of the River Clyde which served as one of Scotland’s most important ports, enabling the thriving industry. North of Glasgow is Glengoyne, which has been distilling continuously since 1833 and is one of Scotland’s prettiest distilleries.

Day 10: Transfer to Glasgow Airport.
