The Tokaj wine region is a World Heritage Site, and Hungary's best-known wine region. Tokaj's microclimate provides the ideal conditions to produce this world-class wine, it is a medicine, a real nectar. The south-facing slopes, the nearby Tisza and Bodrog rivers and the warm summers, long, sunny autumns all play a part in the development of noble rot, giving the wine its unique taste.
Tokaj is most famous for its dessert wine called Aszú, but besides Aszú and other late harvest wines, more and more emphasis have been put recently on making dry whites, mostly Furmint.
