Tour Overview
The Danube Valley between Krems and Melk, known as the Wachau, is as scenic and romantic as Austria gets, boasting famous white wines, ruined castles, charming old towns surrounded by steep vineyards, and the glorious Melk Abbey.
Explore this scenic wine producing region on this full-day, small group wine tasting tour from Vienna. Over the course of the day you will cover the most scenic 24 miles of the Wachau Valley and visit exclusive wineries.
Departing from Vienna, the first stop of the day is the town of Durnstein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will enjoy a wine tasting and have free time to wander around the town.
Next stop will be in Weissenkirchen where you can enjoy a delicious lunch at a traditional family-owned wine tavern.
After lunch, continue to Spitz for another wine tasting and take the ferry to Melk.
End the day with a boat cruise on the Danube and a brief stop at Melk Abbey for photos.
Please note: From October 1 to April 30, the tour includes a 1-hour guided tour of Melk Abbey instead of the 1-hour Danube boat cruise.
