Tour Overview
What better way to experience a new country but through its people, food and, of course, wine. Explore Bosnia's wine and food with this private tour.
Drive to the 15th century Orthodox monastery of Tvrdos where monks have been producing wine for centuries until they blew up the monastery when it was about to be taken over by the Ottomans in the 19th century. You will visit their ancient cellars and taste some of their best white and red wines. Your guide will explain the wine and the current hard-working monk life-style.
After tasting the monks' wine, it is time to visit a small family-owned production and winery. In recent years some families have become known for their dedication to winemaking, their friendliness, and hospitality. Visit one of these families, and learn about their life stories and the challenges they faced while building their small business. Sure, you’ll taste their wines paired with homemade bread, cheese, and prosciutto.
Finally, drive 6 kilometers (4 miles) out to the hills beyond Trebinje to the village of Tuli. Stop in a family-owned restaurant serving traditional domestic Bosnian food. Enjoy a 3-course lunch accompanied by homemade wine and liqueurs.
A visit to the Orthodox monastery of Gracanica standing at the top of the hill is also possible.
