The wines you will taste on your afternoon tour are blends (like all Bordeaux wines) with Merlot being predominant. You will see how Merlot has a fresh and fruity taste. Combined with the power of the Cabernet, it produces beautifully balanced, aromatic wines.
Your St.Emilion Afternoon Tour Itinerary
1:45 pm: Meet your friendly expert guide in the centre of Bordeaux and climb aboard your luxury minivan for the afternoon. You will set off for the drive through Bordeaux wine country towards Saint Emilion. Your guide knows all there is to know about St.Emilion and Bordeaux and will share interesting facts that will provide a great context for your visit in St.Emilion.
2.30 pm: You’ve arrived in St.Emilion! Your first visit of the afternoon is to an authentic and charming family-run estate on the right bank. Feel the intimacy and authenticity of a private château which has been run by a passionate winemaking family for generations. The beauty and aesthetic of the chateau lives up to the quality of the wine.
Enjoy a guided tour of the chateau and then join a wine tasting class where you can become a wine expert in 20 minutes! "Intense colour, woody aromas, tannic taste". You might wonder what that all means. Learn the steps of a proper wine tasting and educate your nose to identify the wine aromas. You will be given tips and tricks to taste wine like a pro!
At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a wine tasting of the château’s wines.
4.30 pm: After your first chateau visit, you’ll be driven by your guide to your second visit of the afternoon, at a Great Classified Growth estate! This is your chance to taste some of the best wines in Bordeaux! Enjoy a guided tour of the chateau which overlooks the vineyards of St.Emilion and be impressed by the attention to detail and the perfection with which its wine is made. Learn all about their winemaking process from the vine to the bottle as you explore the winemaking facilities. Of course, no chateaux tour is complete without a wine tasting! You’ll enjoy a guided tasting of their wines accompanied by an aperitif of French delicacies including fresh bread, saucisson (similar to salami), and cheese.
After your final chateaux visit of the day, it’s time to explore the Medieval village of St. Emilion. Enjoy a guided tour of the village which is classified as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage locations. Saint Emilion is a typical charming French village and is surrounded by vineyards and chateaux.
7:15 pm: After an afternoon exploring the wines of St.Emilion it will be time to depart for the drive back to Bordeaux. You will arrive in the centre of the city at your drop off point at 7.15 pm.
