Immerse yourself in the Loire Valley countryside and vineyards on this private 4-day wine tour from Paris. Meet with the local winemakers, visit family-owned wine estates and discover hidden areas of the Loire Valley.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to Loire Valley: Amboise – Vouvray wine
Meet your English-speaking driver-guide in Paris and depart the city for the Loire Valley with a stop in Amboise.
Make a stop at a beautiful chateau wine estate where you will be welcomed by the owner/winemaker. Take a tour of the cellar and enjoy a friendly wine tasting in the winemaker's home, a beautiful white limestone chateau. Then enjoy a gourmet picnic in the garden.
In the afternoon, take a sightseeing tour of Amboise. Settled on the Loire riverbank, the town is a picturesque place with a beautiful castle overlooking the river.
Late afternoon, arrive at your hotel. Located in the heart of Loire Valley countryside, not far from the river, this family-owned hotel features an indoor swimming pool that is perfect for relaxing after a day touring and drinking wine!
On this first night enjoy a 3-course dinner in the restaurant.
Day 2 : Fontevraud abbey, wine cruise and sparkling wine in Saumur
Meet with your driver-guide for a full-day private tour.
Start with a visit of the magnificent Fontevraud Abbey. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the burial place of several of the important Plantagenet family members.
Late morning, arrive in a charming village settled on the Loire riverbank and meet with your skipper, a winemaker passionate about boats. On his traditional wooden boat, you will discover the beautiful landscapes from the river. Enjoy a 2-hours private river cruise with a wine tasting and a gourmet picnic aboard.
In the afternoon, arrive in the picturesque town of Saumur. You will walk through the old town and admire the beautiful historic houses and mansions. Then continue for a visit and wine tasting in one of the many sparkling wine houses of Saumur. You will learn more about the winemaking process of this famous sparkling Loire Valley wine and discover the underground cellar carved into the white limestone. An unforgettable visit!
Day 3 : Bourgueil and Chinon wine experience
Meet with your driver-guide for a full-day private wine tour in Chinon and Bourgueil. The three appellations of Chinon, Bourgueil and St-Nicolas de Bourgueil form the world’s largest concentration of high-quality Cabernet Franc.
Start with a tour in a beautiful chateau wine estate in Bourgueil. You will learn about the history of the place and tour the estate. Following your visit, enjoy a wine tasting of red, rosé and sparkling wines.
Enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant in the middle of the vineyard. The Chef will welcome you into his home and share with you his passion for local produce. Indeed, everything or almost everything you will eat is made from produce coming directly from the garden. A 3- course “0 kilometre” menu will be served paired with local wines (drinks not included). A gourmet experience to please any food enthusiast!
In the afternoon, arrive in Chinon. This region is known for producing excellent red wines from the Cabernet Franc grape and generally considered to be the top red wine appellation of the Loire. On a sightseeing tour of the charming medieval town discover its fortress on the top of the hill, its picturesque streets and beautiful historic half-timbered houses.
Later, visit a family-owned winery, tour the cellar and enjoy a wine tasting from the estate.
Day 4 : Chenonceau castle and wine
Meet with your driver-guide for a final private tour. Start with a visit to Chenonceau Castle, which spans the River Cher. Designed and owned by women, Chenonceau is also known as the Château des Dames - Ladies' Château. Take time to explore the beautiful gardens.
Late morning, enjoy a last wine stop before heading back to Paris. What a better way to end your wine holiday in the Loire Valley than with a stop in a beautiful family-owned winery. Enjoy a tour of the vineyard and learn about the history of the chateau. Following the tour, you will experience a wine tasting and a gourmet picnic with wine in the garden.
