Tour Overview
Learn about Athens’ culinary culture and discover the traditional tastes and fresh flavours of the city on this private food tasting tour.
Meet your local guide at Kotzia Square, a charming square in the heart of Athens. As the modern Greeks like to do every morning, you’ll enjoy a Greek coffee before you start exploring.
Then, you’ll venture into Athens central market which has been operating for more than a hundred years. Enjoy one of Europe’s most unique marketplaces and get the opportunity to talk to vendors and see all the fresh produce. Your local guide will help you discover the best of the Central Market showing you a variety of delicious Greek specialties in places that don’t see many tourists. Sample various local tastes such as koulouri (a round-shaped bread with sesame seeds), feta, olives, olive oil, honey, cheese, and many more.
Continue your tour and visit unique small family-owned businesses located around the historical centre and the ancient Agora, the very place where famous Greeks like Pericles and Aristotle used to stroll around.
Time for more food! Share a “meze” platter (local tapas) and enjoy unique cheeses, savoury pies, Greek pastries, and traditional dips in a local-favourite deli.
Final stop of the tour is at a rooftop bar with views over Athens’ most famous landmark, the Acropolis. Here you will have the opportunity to taste traditional spirits and local wines followed by one of Greece’s oldest sweets, Loukoumades.
Your tour will come to an end at Monastiraki Square where you can continue your own exploration, or your local guide can give you directions on how to get back to your hotel.
