Day 1. Arrive Naples
On arrival in Naples make your way to your centrally located, 4-star hotel.
Day 2. Naples City & Street Food Walking Tour
This morning, discover the true heart of Naples on a small group walking tour accompanied by a passionate Neapolitan!
Naples is the oldest city of Italy (older than Rome and Florence), built up 2800 years ago by the Greeks under the name of Parthenope. It is the most eclectic, multicultural, and creative city of Italy, full of historical buildings, food markets and artisan shops. It is a city rich in history and tradition which you will learn more about from your guide.
During the morning you will visit Piazza Plebiscito with the magnificent Royal Palace and walk along the seaside to enjoy the view of the bay and Mt. Vesuvius. Stroll inside the food market Pignasecca and taste several typical dishes, belonging to the city’s traditional street food culture. Walk through the narrow streets of the historical centre and in the famous “Spaccanapoli”. Take the chance to enter into a craftman shop to learn about the tradition of the handmade statues of the Nativity (called “Presepe”), a tradition deeply felt in Naples during Christmas time. Walk along the central nave of Naples Cathedral also known as “Duomo” and be fascinated by the history of Saint Gennaro and the liquefaction of his blood.
As you wander through the piazzas and narrow streets, smell the sweet aroma of roasting beans and admire the delicious pastries. The coffee ritual is a time-honoured tradition in Naples, so don't miss the chance to try an espresso.
After the tour you are free to return to your hotel or continue your exploration of Naples independently.
Day 3. Pompeii tour and wine tasting on Mt. Vesuvius
After breakfast, depart Naples for a day of history and spectacular views, wine tasting and traditional food.
Your tour begins with a 2-hour guided visit to Pompeii. Discover the ruins of this ancient metropolis in an exclusive way by skipping the long lines at the entrance. The city of Pompeii was famously destroyed when nearby Mt Vesuvius erupted in 79CE. However, for centuries many of the public buildings and houses were preserved under a blanket of ash, and rediscovered in the 1700’s. It’s a fascinating story and a memorable tour.
In addition to its beauty and history, the region of Naples is known for its excellent food. Continue your tour to a vineyard on the slopes of Mt Vesuvius, one of the most majestic active volcanoes in Europe for an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Enjoy a four course meal of locally sourced produce accompanied by a selection of the finest Vesuvian wines. There is something special about sipping a good wine with a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples just below you.
After lunch, take a tour of the vineyards where you can learn the various cultivation methods and production techniques of one of the most popular wines in the area. Then return to your hotel in Naples.
Day 4. Depart Naples
After breakfast, check out of your hotel.
