Enjoy a day discovering Puglia's wine and gastronomic delights on this private tour near Ruvo di Puglia.
Your morning will be dedicated to cheese! Visit a family-owned agriturismo where, with the help of an English speaking guide, the owner will show you around the estate including the jazzo - where the farmers used to milk sheep - and also the farm, where you will have the opportunity to milk a cow.
You will then move to the cheese production area where you will learn how to make mozzarella, ricotta and giuncata cheese. The owner will also explain the origins of the cheese names and the reason why these types of cheese are produced.
Having learnt all about cheese it is time to sample some! Enjoy a light lunch of fresh cheeses and local farm delicacies accompanied by wine.
After lunch visit an award-winning winery in the Murgia area on the slopes of Castel del Monte (a UNESCO Heritage Site). Take a tour of the estate, the grape-pressing area, the underground tanks and the barrels room (which were part of an old underground monastery!). Finish your visit with a wine tasting of the best DOC wines of the Murgia area.
