Tour Overview
Discover the best kept secrets of Southern Spain’s exquisite wines and gastronomy on this all-inclusive fun and educational half-day tour.
Whether you are a wine aficionado or simply a lover of Andalusian grapes looking to enjoy and better your knowledge, this tour is for you! Fun, entertaining and educational, this experience is much more than just a wine tour.
Discover a very unspoiled region of Andalucia, located in the South of Cordoba with the most spectacular rolling hills landmark only comparable to Tuscany in Italy or to Napa Valley in California. Montilla-Moriles lies at the centre of a historical and geographical triangle that the cities of Granada, Seville and Córdoba form.
Today the vines share the space with wheat and olives to give the classic Mediterranean trilogy: bread, wine and oil. The wines produced here are often compared to Sherries as they have a similar aging system. What sets them apart however, is the grape variety that grows in this area: Pedro Ximénez (or PX) which makes these wines absolutely unique in the world.
There are three main types of wines produced here: young fruity wines, biological aged wines (called Fino) and oxidative aged wines (called olorosos and amontillados). And then there is of course, the jewel of the crown: the dessert sweet wine Pedro Ximenez (named as per the grape variety).
The region’s climate also offers a huge potential for organic growing.
You will visit a family-run winery for a short introduction to their history and organic production. Then you will go on an exciting 4x4 tour through the vineyards and olive groves, in the countryside.
Enjoy a first outdoor tasting of a delicious organic vermut and some snacks. Back in the winery, you'll tour the main cellar to learn the different ageing process of the most singular and unique wines in the world, and of course you will taste them all.
The experience will be completed with a fabulous pairing lunch served at a local restaurant close to the winery.
