Winery Overview
Discover Castel Mimi, the guest card of Moldova and the only tourist destination in the country, listed among Top 15 most beautiful architectural masterpieces of the Wine World. Actually, it’s a unique concept of wine resort, spread over almost 200.000 m² of a land that connects past with present and future.
Built in 1893 by Costantin Mimi, this has always been the only authentic Wine Castle in Moldova and even nowadays it proudly represents its Country and national heritage. Bulboaca wines were among the most popular in the country and beyond its borders since the year 1900. Kings and chiefs of state have visited and appreciated the castle and the vineyards since they were established.
Constantin A. Mimi [1868-1935], last governor of Basarabia and the greatest winemaker of the 20th century, studied viticulture and winemaking in France and then established in Bulboaca this innovative winery, which still continues to produce wines according to Mimi’s high quality requirements. For example, 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (Castel Mimi) wine, awarded a gold medal at Mundus Vini (Germany) 2016 as well as double gold at Sakura (Japan) 2017, named the best red wine of Moldova by Raimonds Tomsons (2017 Best Sommelier of Europe & Africa).
Castel Mimi also has a fine dining “The White Owl” restaurant – so warm and cosy, makes its food and wine a great experience that marries traditional Moldovan cuisine with exquisite contemporary flavours. You should also visit the Wine Bar, outdoors pool, wine cellars and have a luxurious stay at Seven Stone Chalets Hotel – a unique project that combines traditional with contemporary design, overview the swimming pool, the Wine Spa and the resort.
Activities such as wine tasting, wine blending, and wine tours are available on site.
