Winery Overview
Arcadia vineyards is a family estate run by father and daughter Ozcan and Zeynep Arca.
The Arcadia project began over 10 years ago with a search for the right site and varieties. Zeynep persuaded renowned French specialists to join them, and soil samples and climatic data were analysed from locations across Turkey. The site selected was in Thrace, in the far north west. Here, vineyards are at an altitude of 150 meters. It is a beautiful place and a delight to visit.
This location has a continental climate, tempered by the Black Sea to the east, and the Aegean Sea to the west. The conditions give grapes of excellent ripeness and lively acidity.
This terroir is ideal for making elegant, aromatic wines. The approach to viticulture is environmentally sensitive, and winemaking is light handed, wines are bottled unfined and only partially filtered.
Today, Arcadia produces a range of white, rosé and red wines, in small quantities, with the emphasis on nuance and vitality. A total of 120.000 bottles are produced per year. The varieties planted include Sauvignon Gris, an ancient and low-yielding clone of Sauvignon Blanc. Arcadia is the first winery in Turkey to cultivate this variety and reviews of the first release were outstanding.
A boutique hotel and restaurant are underway for visiting wine lovers.
Wine tourists can enjoy walks in the vineyards, visit the winery, enjoy wine tastings and a pleasant and relaxing dinner in the Gazebo by the lake. The menu has been prepared to be an elegant expression of the local and gourmet tastes.
