Winery Overview
Discover Ancilla Winery, a 17-hectare oasis of tranquillity immersed in greenery, just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Verona.
The winery has been in the same family for three generations; uniquely passed down between the female family members. In the mid 1970’s Ancilla, with the help of her daughter Maria Teresa, bought two vineyard estates: La Cadellora and La Ghidina. Maria looked after the vineyards and personally took care of winemaking. At the start of the new millennium, Maria wanted to pass on the baton and her daughter, Luisella willingly gave up her job in finance to become a wine producer and continue the family winemaking tradition. In tribute to her grandmonther she named the winery Ancilla. The lifelong commitment of these amazing women is still a relatively young project, one that continues to grow.
Six hectares of vineyards are planted at the La Ghidina estate in Lugana di Sirmione and four hectares around the winery are planted with vines. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and the local grape Incorcio Manzoni used to make their white, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines. Their products include Lugana DOC, Brut Sparkling wine, and rose wines. Each wine has its own story and unique features reflective of the terroir.
