Quinta de São Francisco, located 5km far from Viseu City is a historic winery with stunning gardens which form part of the Route of the Historic Gardens of Portugal. Visitors to the Quinta de São Francisco winery can choose from 6 amazing wine experiences.
Quinta de São Francisco has a long history, dating back to the 18th Century, with ownership by the Viscount of Treixedo, a member of the local nobility. The winery also has some amazing gardens that are part of the Route of the Historic Gardens of Portugal.
The Chão de São Francisco Project is a family project started in the 1990s with the goal of producing and commercialising DOC wines of recognized quality in the Dão wine region.
Quinta de Sao Francisco also owns a manor house of Beira, which represents an architectural, historical and religious legacy, important for the region of Viseu.
With about 8 hectares of vineyard, it also houses a Chapel of Our Lady of the Slaves, founded in 1660, a patrimonial testimony of Portuguese history from the XVII th century. Quinta de S. Francisco also possesses the image of the Saint who gives it its name, an example of the people’s faith and belief and of the rural lordship of the era.
