Winery Overview
Meerlust Estate's wines have been recognized for producing world-class quality wines for a long time.
The Estate has a long tradition and has been the pride of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, the traditional dedication to the art of winemaking continues under the guidance of Hannes Myburgh, eighth generation custodian of this seventeenth-century national monument.
Meerlust, with its historic manor house, classic wine cellar, family cemetry and dovecote is ideally located - only 15 kilometres south of Stellenbosch, with the blue cescent of False Bay a mere 5 kilometres away.
Wines are only made from grapes grown on the Estate which is uniquely positioned for the production of wines with exceptional complexity and character.
On visiting the Estate, make sure you join Trish and Annemarie in the Meerlust wine shop. Here you will be able to enjoy a relaxed tasting of the full range of wines. The wine shop boasts a photographic timeline of both the history of Meerlust and the history of the Cape.
Please note: Private tastings are available by appointment only, and groups larger than 10 are required to make a reservation.
