This half day private tour is an excellent introduction to the wines and cuisine of Santorini.
The first part of the tour takes place in an Afoura barrels cellar and focuses on wine. You will be joined by a local sommelier who will explain about the history of wine producing in Santorini, the island's grape varieties, particularly the white Assyrtiko grape, and their unique volcanic characteristics.
For the next part of the tour you will be joined by a local chef who will give you guidelines on how to master timeless Greek cuisine. During the interactive cooking class you will prepare and cook some classic Greek dishes such as Santorinian salad, fava, tomato fritters, and moussaka with white Santorinian eggplant, while you enjoy a glass of Assyrtiko white wine.
Once you have prepared your meal, it's time to sit down and eat! Lunch will be accompanied with a guided wine tasting of Santorinian wines.
