Médoc Afternoon Wine Tour from Bordeaux

Your tour will take you along the “châteaux route” and through the vineyards, as far as the eye can see. The Bordeaux wines you will taste are blends primarily made from Cabernet Sauvignon, which has a powerful and rich taste. Combined with the finesse of the Merlot, it makes beautiful, balanced and complex wines.

Your Medoc Afternoon Wine Tour Itinerary

2 pm: Your tour starts in the centre of Bordeaux where you will meet your friendly guide for the afternoon. Climb aboard your luxury minivan and set off from Bordeaux for a wonderful afternoon exploring the Medoc. 

As you are driven towards this famous wine appellation you will travel along the “châteaux route”. This mythical road takes you past the iconic Bordeaux appellations of Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. Your guide is an expert in the Bordeaux region and on your way, he will explain all there is to know about Bordeaux and its wine appellations.

2.45 pm: Arriving in the Medoc, it’s time for your first château visit of the afternoon, to none other than a Great Classified Growth estate. This is one of the most prestigious châteaux in Medoc wine country. Your visit will start with a warm welcome in front of the château and you will learn about the history of the estate, including the main varietals of the Médoc region as you enjoy a guided tour of the chateau. Follow your guide to discover the vat room and the chateau’s wine cellars and learn about the winemaking process, all the way from the vine to the bottle.

During an informal and relaxed guided wine tasting session, you will learn all about the steps of a proper wine tasting, learning how to train your nose in order to identify the wines’ aromas. You will be given tips and tricks to taste like a pro!

4.30 pm: After the delicious and informative tasting, it will be time for your second château visit of the afternoon. Arriving at this charming and authentic family-run winemaking estate; you will feel the intimacy and authenticity of a private château and winery run by the same family for several generations. Enjoy a guided tour of the château and its wine cellars, followed by a tasting of the estate’s wines accompanied by an aperitif of traditional French delicacies (fresh bread, cheese and saucisson (similar to salami).

7.15 pm: Your afternoon spent exploring the Medoc will conclude when you are driven back to the centre of Bordeaux, arriving at 7:15 pm.
