Tour Overview
Go behind-the-scenes and learn about truffles in the Piedmont region, Italy’s gastronomic capital with this private truffle hunting and Barolo wine tasting tour from Alba.
Meet your driver, drive to the woods and follow the truffle hunter and his dog on a leisurely 60-90 minutes walk and see if you unearth any treasures.
Learn how truffles grow in a full presentation of the soil of the Piedmont region and the environment of the Langhe hills.
The truffle hunt lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours and it is held during the season of the white truffle of Alba (end of September to January) and also in summer for the black truffle called “scorzone”.
The tour continues to a boutique winery of the Langhe hills with a visit of the wine cellar and with a wine tasting of 4-5 wines of Piedmont, including the comparison of different types or vintages of Barolo wine.
Please note: A limited number of rubber boots can be supplied. Please ask at time of booking. Otherwise trekking boots are recommended for uneven, slippery and muddy trails.
