Tour Overview
Learn about Spain's Golden Age, history and customs; old and modern winemaking in the region and in Spain in general. Discover medieval and Renaissance architectures through the countryside, just one step from the city, as you visit three authentic wineries.
Despite being only 30km away from Madrid, you will feel like you are several decades, if not centuries, back in time. The Madrid countryside is coated with vineyards and historical towns that have supplied the capital with wine since its very foundation. With a winemaking tradition spanning over 900 years in the Vegas region, it is environmentally protected thanks to its history.
The wines from this region are the wines celebrated in the writings of Cervantes and all the other writers and painters of the Golden Century, enjoyed from the Royal Palace to every tavern of the city. Now they are conquering palates of international critics and wine lovers alike.
The wineries selected range between traditional and modern styles, all showing different aspects of winemaking practices in the Vegas (fertile plains) region. The owners or winemakers themselves show you around their wineries, enjoying a tasting of three or more wines with deliciuos typical snacks or "tapas" in each of the wineries.
On the way back to Madrid, if time allows, there will be a short scenic stop at the promontory of the Chinchón Castle.
