4-Days Scotland Speyside Whisky Retreat

This all inclusive 4-day tour combines the beauty of Speyside, unique Scotch Whisky distillery experiences, adventures in the Scottish Highlands, and local knowledge with the comfort of exceptional 4-star local accommodation. 

This is a one of a kind truly unique Scotch Whisky experience where you can enjoy insider distillery visits, whisky dinners and tutored tastings, all personally hosted by your own professional Whisky guide, Mitch Bechard.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Either make your own way to Speyside or transfers from any major city or airport in Scotland can be arranged for you. Upon arrival at around 4pm you will be welcomed to your accommodation by your host for the 4 days, Mitch Bechard.

Mitch has been a professional Whisky Ambassador for some of the largest Whisky companies in the world for the past 20 years and is a Keeper of the Quaich, an honor bestowed on a select few for their services to the Scotch Whisky industry.  

After being welcomed by Mitch with a dram you will be given time to settle into your accommodation. On your first evening you will be treated to an incredible Whisky paired dinner at the Dowans Hotel, a family run hotel with an exceptional Whisky collection. 

Your dinner will be hosted in their Whisky snug, surrounded by an incredible Whisky selection of 600 bottles. Here Mitch will guide you through a 3-course meal paired with 4 Scotch Whiskies from distilleries in the area.  After dinner it is back to the house to enjoy a few nightcaps by the fire. 

Day 2: The morning will begin with a continental or full breakfast followed by a trip to The Balvenie distillery. Here you will experience a 2-hour tour of all aspects of how this amazing Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made, including a chance to see the rare and still operational floor maltings. To complete the tour, you will fill your own 20cl bottle of Balvenie directly from a cask. 

Following this you will take a short trip to Glenfiddich where a 2-course lunch will be served in their award-winning restaurant. After lunch Mitch will give you a tour of some of the breathtaking sights this area has to offer. During each stop Mitch will give you an overview of the distillery/area while pouring you a dram from his ‘secret stash.’ 

Then it is back to the accommodation to relax before setting off to the Seven Stills in Dufftown for a 3-course dinner paired with a dram or two.  

Day 3: After breakfast enjoy a full on adventure experiencing the beauty of the river Spey in a two man canoe. This will be an entire day on the water navigating one of the most beautiful rivers in Scotland with experienced guides from Spirit of the Spey. 

After a full day of experiencing some of Scotland’s finest scenery, with lunch included, you will be treated to a whisky tasting on the banks of the Spey. Then it is back to the accommodation where dinner will be served. You will not want to go anywhere after this exhausting day! However, if you are still wanting to mingle with the locals transportation can be organised for you to some of the local bars for a dram or two.

Day 4: Start your day with a full or continental breakfast then you will visit a tasting to the family owned Glenfarclas distillery where you will get a 'behind the scenes' look at how this family run distillery works. (take away whisky for those who have to drive). 

Then it is a short drive to the CopperDog in Craigellachie for a farewell lunch to set you up for your journey back home.
