Discover Château Troplong Mondot, one of the 18 First Classified Growths among 1,000 chateaux in Saint-Emilion region.
Its handsome château dates back to 1745 and Troplong-Mondot was originally part of one sizeable domaine which included the vineyards of Château Pavie. It became autonomous in 1850 when it was acquired by Raymond Troplong. Later on, it was bought by Alexandre Valette then owned and run by his great- granddaughter, Christine and her husband Xavier Pariente until 2017. Since then, it belongs to SCOR, the world's 4th largest reinsurer. Following the arrival of this new shareholder, it is with the same spirit of authenticity and determination that the property pursues its destiny in the excellence that its potential promises”
Troplong Mondot has 43 hectares of vineyards well-sited alongside the hill of Mondot to the north-east of the St-Emilion appellation. The soils are rich in : clay, limestone and flint, asteria limestone and silty clays. Planted with Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%). The grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barriques for 18 months. It is bottled unfiltered.
If you want to enjoy life in the wine country of Bordeaux, in 2010, Chateau Troplong Mondot opened a bed and breakfast inn, right on the property! “Les clefs de Troplong Mondot” (The Keys of Troplong Mondot) is located in the heart of St. Emilion, on a hill overlooking the picturesque village of St. Emilion. There are three different, beautiful rooms and a house “La maison des vignes” (the vineyard house) to choose from.
Nestled in the heart of the Troplong-Mondot vineyard, the gourmet restaurant, “Les Belles Perdrix”, offers a rare and sublime setting from which to enjoy an interlude and experience the cuisine of the Michelin-starred chef, David Charrier.
Troplong Mondot offers the quality and facilities of a luxury hotel in a natural setting, surrounded by vineyards for a homestay 'chez l'habitant'.
