Winery Overview
Discover Celler Mas Eugeni, situated on the southern slope of the town of Calonge, an area commonly known as Fondils, surrounded by age-old vines.
With its back to the village and facing the sea, Mas Eugeni Estate has two buildings: one, from 17th century, where the holding vat laid within the foundations of the house still survives, and another, thought to be older, though the exact date is unknown, which today houses the barrel cellar.
Until the 1970s, the family that owns Mas Eugeni pressed wine in the aforementioned vat. After that, they decided to transfer the pressing process outside of the home, to Can Jaques, the cellar which the majority of the village used for this purpose.
The wines they produce are christened with the name of the region where they come from: Fondils Tinto (red) and Fondils Rosado (rosé). Its vines are now certified with the Denomination of Origin Empordà seal, and the winery is currently immersed in the certification process for its wines.
In addition to producing wine the farmhouse also has a summer market garden and keeps animals.
On the guided visits of the winery guests can sample the wines, olive oils and tomatoes as well as enjoy a stay in a farmhouse with a variety of animals (chickens, goats, horses and dogs) or a stroll through the orchard where, those who wish, can pick fruit and pay for them at the end of the tour.
