Tour Overview
The wines of Portugal are diverse and distinctive. This leisurely-paced, 6-day private tour explores the regions of Alentejo and the Algarve, sampling the unique regional wine and cuisine along the way.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to Portugal. The Alentejo
Upon arrival at Lisbon’s International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your 4-star hotel in the Alentejo. Depending on the arrival time you will stop for breakfast or lunch during the travel to Évora. Check-in and enjoy your first night in Portugal.
Day 2: Alentejo wine region
Today you will enjoy a journey through the vast plains of Alentejo dotted with vineyards, cork and olive trees. During the tour you will visit Évora, a city known as an open-air museum, and Estremoz, the land of white marble and the most amazing wines.
The day will take you to discover three different wineries, three completely different styles of wines in Alentejo and even have the opportunity to have lunch with one of the wine producers at his own estate.
Return to the hotel.
Day 3: Day at leisure
Take your time to enjoy the many amenities of your hotel and explore the narrow streets in this open air museum. If you are an active person you can enjoy some outdoor activities as a hot air balloon ride, horse riding.
Day 4: Transfer to the Algarve
After a relaxing day in the calm Alentejo, where food and wine will keep you busy, it is now time to drive south to the famous Algarve region.
Your driver will pick-you up at your hotel and take you to your hotel in Algarve.
Day 5: The unexpected Algarve wine region
Algarve is all about sun and beach, but its wines are a well-kept secret! This experience will take you through the Algarve countryside to discover three different wine producers, which represent three different projects, nevertheless all have in common a great passion for wine, tradition, heritage and the Algarve.
For lunch you will be welcomed at one of these estates, to share with the wine producer a simple, yet delicious regional lunch, at one of the beautiful places in the estate, maybe below the 2000 years olive tree, or in the main house, or maybe the vintage olive oil “lagar”. Enjoy the moment, the wines and the experience and love these people have for wine culture.
Day 6: Goodbye Algarve!
Enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel or have your own time in the city before flying back home.
