Join a professional truffle hunter and his four-legged companion in the search for the treasured truffle on this private truffle hunting experience with lunch.
After breakfast you will be met at your Ljubljana hotel by an English-speaking driver guide. Journey away from the city, through the Slovenian countryside to the region of Istria. Here, hidden in the dark soil beneath the trees of the Istrian forests, are truffles.
On arrival, you will meet a local expert truffle hunter and his dog who has been specifically trained to sniff out truffles. Now begins the search for this precious product! As you explore the forest, following the dog on its hunt you will learn all about Istrian truffles including the difference between white and black varieties. Fingers crossed for a discovery!
After the hunt, head to a nearby farmhouse where you can watch the truffles being cleaned and prepared, ready to cook for lunch. Your lunch will be homemade fuži – the pasta of the region – served with truffles (of course). Simple, yet sensational! The meal will be perfectly paired with a glass of local wine.
After lunch, return to your hotel in Ljubljana.
