Tour Overview
Located in eastern Slovenia, the Podravje wine-growing area is the country’s most important and extensive wine producing region. Vines have been growing on the hills here since Roman times. Discover the unique wines of the region on this full day private wine tasting tour from Ljubljana.
Depart from your hotel in Ljubljana and drive to Dveri Pax Wine Cellar. Situated in an old Benedictine monastery, the winery follows the 800-year wine growing tradition of the Admont Benedictine monks. Visit the modern cellar and taste their best wines – Furmint, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and sparkling wines - some of which have received awards and top ratings by Decanter.
After your tasting continue your journey to Ptuj. Ptuj is the oldest Slovenian town, located on a small hill near the River Drava. The medieval and baroque houses are covered with red roofs and gathered at the foot of the castle, representing the old town. The regional museum in the castle has a collection of typical carnival costumes and musical instruments from the 17th – 19th centuries and period rooms.
Take a stroll through the old town, stopping at one of the oldest buildings where Kobal wines have their wine shop. Kobal is a small boutique winery specialising in white wines that perfectly showcase the unique terroir. The renowned wine magazine Decanter awarded their wine with the flattering title of the ‘King of Sauvignons’ for its distinctive style. Enjoy a tasting session before returning to Ljubljana.
