Tour Overview
Enjoy this private unique 4-day food and wine tour in Galicia for an exclusive experience hard to forget. You will visit 4 of the 5 wine regions of Galicia, appreciate their wines, visit their cities monuments, and hidden corners, taste the typical meals and obtain an off-the-beaten-track experience.
You will sleep in luxury historic Paradores, relish on meals at an exclusive restaurant, in a wine cellar and a Furancho and be delighted by the breathtaking landscapes. You will visit a number of monuments, a VI century monastery and some stunning World Heritage Sites.
You will also visit several carefully picked wineries of the different appellations of origin; Rías Baixas, famous for its Albariño wines, Ribeira Sacra and its “heroic wines”, where you'll share lunch in a winery with the winemaker. Finally, you'll discover Valdeorras with the maximum expression of its Godellos and Mencías.
Itinerary
Day 1- Rías Baixas
Your route begins with a visit to a representative winery of the Salnés Valley, with its most characteristic Albariños, getting to know its production in detail. From there you will be transported to the harbour of El Grove to enjoy a catamaran visit by to the “bateas”, where the famous Galician mussels are farmed and will be served during the boat trip. You will then go to Arosa Island, where ypu will enjoy a Galician lunch with great views of the estuary. In the afternoon you will visit another winery, and then go to Cambados for dinner.
Day 2 - The border with Portugal
Today you will travel along the southwest coast of Galicia to the Miño River, the natural border with Portugal, visiting a winery in the Rosal area and enjoying the landscapes, making stops at interesting places such as Bayona, Sta. María de Oia, where you will eat by the seaside and its monastery. After lunch, you will go to Monte Sta. Tecla, with its prehistoric Celtic settlements and its wonderful views towards Portugal and the Atlantic. You will stop at Valença do Minho (Portugal) visiting its fortress and having typical Portuguese dishes for dinner.
Day 3 - Ribeiro & Ribeira Sacra
Today, you will first visit the Ribeiro area and one of its most important wineries, then continue to the Ribeira Sacra. You will visit and eat in a small winery by the Miño river, while enjoying its great wines. After lunch you will make a tour of its canyons to then visit another winery by the Sil river canyons and if the schedule allows it, get on a catamaran, to enjoy the canyons from the river. You will go to Monforte de Lemos for dinner.
Day 4 - Valdeorras & the Romans
On your last day you will visit the Valdeorras denomination of origin, where the Godellos reach their maximum expression of freshness. Following the course of the Sil river, you will arrive at the largest open-pit gold mine in the Roman Empire, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then you will go to Valdeorras, where we you will visit a winery and share food and wines with the winemaker, after which you will start heading back to finish your wonderful journey.
