Winery Overview

Château George 7 is a new boutique vineyard in the appellation of Fronsac on the right bank of Bordeaux, which is already producing multi award-winning 100% Merlot wines and gaining excellent recognition from wine critics.

Established in 2017, following the purchase of 3 hectares of vines from a neighbouring property, the name was chosen to reflect its mission: to blend the heritage and tradition of Bordeaux winemaking with forward looking approaches and techniques. In addition to using traditional French oak barrels, Château George 7 also has amphorae – both ceramic and terracotta – which are being used to experiment with new styles and small quantity cuvées.

The vineyard is committed to sustainability and has shifted from traditional farming to a holistic sustainable approach and has HVE 3 certification (the highest level of High Environmental Value).

Chateau George 7 produces AOC Fronsac red wines that capture the essence of Fronsac today: fruit-forward, fresh with a touch of minerality from the underlying limestone along with silky tannins and a lingering elegance and finesse. In 2021 they produced their first white wine that is fresh with ripe stone fruits and candied citrus fruit along with a beautiful mouthfeel from new barrel fermentation.

Sally Evans, the owner, lives full-time at the estate and has lived and worked in France for 28 years. She made the bold move to create Château George 7 as a project to follow her passion for wine. Sally meets every visitor to the vineyard. As an accredited Bordeaux Wine School tutor, she can offer visitors an overview of the region, as well as in intimate insight into life on a small vineyard and the challenges behind running a Bordeaux wine chateau.

Visitors are warmly welcomed at Château George 7 to walk in the vines, experience the tasting room and wine school with a vineyard tour, a lunch platter or a workshop and of course, to relax, taste and enjoy the wines.

Visit the vines, winery and taste 2 wines made at the Château. Sally will share her passion for viticulture and winemaking as she shows you around. After visiting the vines and winery, you can choose to sit inside or outside for your tasting - just with those in your group. Approx 1 hour

From April to October by arrangement.

April, May, June, September & October: Thursday to Saturday daily at 11am limited to small numbers due to Covid 19 restrictions.

July & August: Wednesday to Sunday daily at 11am.

A really magical day in the heart of the Fronsac vines. Whether you are concerned about social distancing or seeking a very special day out for your private group, then having your own vineyard for the day will be JUST perfect.

Sally, the owner, will greet you and show you around. After the tour and tasting, she will ensure you have all you need and then leave you to enjoy lunch and the vineyard. She will be on hand if you would like to chat winemaking or need anything but equally, she will happily leave you to your own devices to enjoy the lovely surroundings. Borrow bikes for a cycle, go for a walk in the vines, read a book on the terrace, play board games and/or just drink in the views.

Cover charge of €35 per person includes a welcome coffee, tour & tasting, cold buffet lunch wines by the glass/bottle, use of all facilities. Additional drinks: pay according to consumption.

Discover the Bordeaux wine region while learning how to taste in a fun and interactive way. Get a feel for the typical Bordeaux grape varieties, their aromas and flavours and learn an approach to tasting. Practice your skills while tasting wines made in different styles, from different vintages and grape varieties. Minimum 4 persons - maximum 12.

Dig into the different approaches winemakers are taking to farm sustainably. What decisions do they have to make? What impact do these have on the environment & what does it mean for the wine in your glass? Sally shares her personal experience and puts it in the broader context of the Bordeaux region and the Fronsac AOC. This is an interactive session as you delve into 50 shades of green and what it means for you as the consumer and what you have in your glass.
