Discover the secrets behind wine making, visit Saint-Émilion and sample some of Bordeaux finest wine on this full-day wine tour. Your certified wine guide Frederic has a deep passion for wine. He is the son of a wine grower, has more than 20 years’ experience in the world of wine and knows many of the local winemakers personally. There could be no better guide!
Your tour begins with the unique opportunity to make your own blend at a Bordeaux château. This interesting workshop will help you to understand the different grape varieties, educate your palate and discover how to combine the varieties to create a blend to your own taste. It’s a fascinating morning that will give you a greater appreciation of wine making.
Then it is time for lunch which will be at le Comptoir De Genes: a friendly local bistro. As you enjoy a two-course meal of local specialities you will be able to ask Frederic any questions you may have about Bordeaux vineyards, the classifications and AOC wine regulations.
In the afternoon, utilise the grape knowledge you obtained this morning as you visit two châteaux for wine tasting. First stop is Château Lapelletrie – a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru – where you will meet the owner and winemaker, Anne Biscaye for a tour of the underground quarries and a tasting. Continue to Château Faugeres – a Grand Cru Classe, located on the edge of Saint-Émilion. Faugeres produces some of the appellations finest red wines with 100-point ratings, and features an eye-catching, state-of-the-art winery that overlooks the vineyard.
After your tour and tasting at Faugeres return to Bordeaux.
