Tour Overview
The coastal region of Setúbal, just south of Lisbon, is a pioneering region in the production of well-made wines. You may recognise the name of its fortified wine - the Moscatel de Setúbal – but it is not a widely known wine growing region. This private full-day tour offers an insight into Setubal wines.
Depart from Lisbon and after a comfortable 40-minute drive you will reach the Setubal wine region.
Begin your day with a visit to a family-owned winery that has been managed by the same family for three generations. You will be met by a family member who will show you the cellar and the barrel room, and will guide you through a wine and food pairing with regular wines and Moscat of Setúbal.
Continue your exploration of the region with a visit to the stunning Setubal coastline where you will have time to enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountain chain with idyllic white sandy beaches.
Proceed to a restaurant on the coastline where you will enjoy the fresh fish and seafood delicacies of the region. Followed by Portuguese coffee and a sweet surprise.
After lunch, visit another family winery which is the heir to the winemaking tradition of four generations of the Cardoso family in Palmela. Its wines are the result of lots chosen from 300 hectares of vineyards (including 130 hectares of old vines) in the best terroirs of the region. The Quinta´s wines represent only the exceptional blends from the family's extensive vineyards. Vinified by the region's ancestral methods, their wines are elegant, exponents of native grape varieties and small quantities of varieties chosen for their excellence. Enjoy a wine tasting with local tapas while you soak up the views of the forest and the city of Lisbon in the background.
After the tasting return to your Lisbon hotel.
