Tour Overview
Spend the day exploring the wonders of the wine regions close to Lisbon with this private, full-day tour.
After passing the hills north of Lisbon you will find yourself in another world: the rolling green hills, and clay and limestone soils are abundant with many Portuguese grape varieties. After a picturesque drive, arrive at the first winery of your tour, located in Do of Óbidos.
Quinta do Porto Nogueira is a family estate located 70 km north from Lisbon. Having its origins back to the first half of the 18th century, this place was in the possession of the same family until 1980. The current owners own Quinta do Porto Nogueira together with Quinta da Escusa which belonged to their grandparents and parents.
Quinta do Porto Nogueira's secular house is leaning against the Roman Bridge over the Arnóia river. The estate produces wines exclusively from their grapes so that the wines reflect the true expression of the terroir. The whole process is aimed at creating true and serious wines, always proving their own identity. In 2019 Quinta do Porto Nogueira began the implementation of a 3-year plan for the certification of their vineyards in Organic or Biologic Mode.
After a visit to the winery, you will have the piece de resistance: a fantastic and relaxed wine tasting with elegant and complex wines awarded with marvelous and broad views over the surrounding fields and the mountain of Todo-o-Mundo.
After this visit, pass by the walled town of Óbidos: a classic Portuguese fortified town and one of the most picturesque locations in Portugal. Óbidos radiates Portuguese charm, from the narrow, cobbled streets and the quaint houses, through to the imposing medieval castle, which once guarded the region.
After a stroll around the town continue to a second winery where you will enjoy a delicious lunch of wine and food pairings, sampling wines from the winery with a view of the green hills filled with vineyards.
After the meal, visit the vineyards and the winery, where you will have the opportunity to learn its history and connection to codfish, which is a gastronomic obsession in Portugal.
After the vineyard visit, return to Lisbon.
