A Renaissance castle on a top of a hill, Castello Vicchiomaggio is a beautiful winery and hotel plucked straight from a fairytale. Overlooking the famous Greve valley, this first-class castle is perfect for a relaxing break away from a hectic pace of modern life as well as a great base for exploring beautiful Tuscany.

Grape growing and winemaking has happened on the land surrounding Castello Vicchiomaggio for hundreds of years, and today the owners, John and Paola, are keen to preserve these ancient traditions. They run their family winery merging these traditional and steadfast winemaking techniques with new and innovative ones to create the highest quality wines.

John and Paola play a large part in the overseeing of the winemaking and take pride in offering daily wine and food experience programmes. Foodies can enjoy a gastronomic experience in the restaurant and wine enthusiasts will love the Italian delights they’ll find in this historic winery. Discover the award-winning wines and olive oil produced at the estate while also touring the impressive cellars and vineyards.

Enjoy the tasting of 4 different type of wines, paired with typical Tuscan bread with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Every day (including Saturday and Sunday) from 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM.

A guided tour of the vineyards (weather permitting) and the historical cellars, followed by the tasting of 3 wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and IGT Supertuscan paired with typical Tuscan bread with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

The tasting is conducted in the “Cantinetta San Jacopo” with its panoramic terrace overlooking the Greve valley.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes approx

From Monday to Friday, (except Wednesday) at 3.30 pm

A guided tour of the vineyards (weather permitting), the historical cellars and the Castle’s Italian Gardens. Lunch will be served in one of the castle’s Renaissance dining rooms.

Enjoy a tasting of 3 wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione & “Golden nectar limited edition Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil” with typical Tuscan bread.

Paired with: Pappardelle with wild boar sauce, “Stufato contadino” (stew beef) with a seasonal vegetable and Selection of local Pecorino (sheep) cheese in various styles.

A very special event in which to visit the wine cellars and enjoy 4 of Castello Vicchiomaggio’s prize winning wines with seasonal specialities.

Meet in the Castle’s gardens for a wine cellar tour which will include the fermentation and the maturation cellar. Return to the castle for a refreshing glass of our white wine.

Enjoy a four course dinner of seasonal Tuscan recipes paired with a glass of our 3 full bodied red wines: Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione and IGT Supertuscan.
