Winery Overview
Discover Tenuta Santa Caterina, a winery estate located in Grazzano Badoglio (province of Asti), in the heart of Monferrato.
At the end of the 20th century, the property was completely abandoned. At the beginning of 2000 it was bought by Guido Carlo Alleva, whose family origins are rooted in these lands. The whole main house and the buildings of the estate soon underwent major conservative renovations, just like the farmland which was used as vineyard already starting from 1737.
In line with its past and the surrounding landscape, the estate was brought back to its original condition: the historical cellar (a real masterpiece of the hypogean architecture), the italian style gardens and the stables (now wine tasting room).
Santa Caterina is a project of viticulture aiming at making wines as they are conceived in the technical team's mind. Part of this team are Guido Carlo Alleva, his daughter Giulia (who is in charge of the winery estate) and the enologist Mario Ronco. The vineyards are grown with selected clones of native and international vine varieties, with symbiotic management, aiming at the progressive reduction of synthetic chemicals. Traditional as well as innovative wines to represent a good match for a great future.
Tenuta Santa Caterina is a traditional winery estate with aristocratic origins, always aiming at reaching the best quality. Now the whole property also includes a prestigious relais, which is itself the result of a renovation of an ancient country house: six suites and common rooms for guests, all furnished with refined elegance.
Guests can tour the vineyards and the estate and enjoy tastings of Santa Caterina wines.
