Winery Overview
Discover Josetta Saffirio, an organic family winery with 200 years of tradition in cultivating the vineyards, located in Monforte d’Alba, one of the 11 towns that are privileged to produce Barolo.
The wine production started in 1975 and after a couple of years the efforts of Josetta and her husband Roberto were rewarded by a great quality of Nebbiolo. In 1985 they presented the first Barolo with the current label, designed by Josetta. In 2000 Sara Vezza, their daughter decided to devote herself to the vineyards. The winery has been making wine for 5 generations, paying great attention to quality and with deep respect for the land they cultivate.
In 2006 a new sustainable cellar was designed, integrated into the rural landscape and isolated with natural cork to reduce the heat exchange with the outside.
A focus on new sustainable solutions like a photovoltaic system and the reduction of CO2 and oil production led the winery to the Sustainable Certification in 2015. The winery is now during the Organic Certification.
Visitors can discover the vineyards and winery, walking among the barrels in which the wine matures silently. Sara Vezza Saffirio will guide you through the oak casks and the scent of the wine.
After visiting the production area, you will taste the wines the winery produces, from Nebbiolo d’Alba Spumante Metodo Classico, white Langhe Rossese bianco, through classic Barbera d’Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo to austere Barolo – Wine of Kings and King of Wines.
Besides wine tastings, the cellar can also create customised events, such as brunches, picnics in the vineyards, truffle hunts, birthday parties, tastings of local products paired with wines and events for families.
Other activities visitors can enjoy are trekking in the vineyards and cooking classes.
Please note: During September, October and November cooking classes and cooking demonstrations are not available on the weekends.
