Full-Day Medoc & Saint Emilion Wine Tasting Tour with Picnic Lunch

This full day Bordeaux wine tour will take you to the two most well-known wine areas of Bordeaux: Saint-Emilion with its great Merlot, and Medoc with its deep and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. 

Your Medoc and St.Emilion Tour Itinerary

9:00 am: Meet your local guide in front of the Bordeaux tourist office and depart Bordeaux. As you drive, your expert guide will explain the famously strict rules applied to winemaking in Bordeaux and the difference between the various wine appellations. Your drive to the Medoc will take you through the mythical appellations which established the reputation of Bordeaux wines. Don’t miss the opportunity to spot some of the most famous winemaking chateaux in the world as you go.

Medoc Chateaux Visit: Your tour starts with a visit and warm welcome at a beautiful 1855 Great Classified Growth Chateau steeped in history. Enjoy a guided tour, beginning with walk through the vineyards, a visit to the vat room and a visit to the chateau’s cellar. Your guide will tell you all about the wine making process, from the vine to the bottle. Your chateau tour will end with a wine tasting of the estate's wines.

Medoc Chateaux Visit: Next on your wine tour will be a visit to a charming family run estate where you will meet the people behind the winemaking, tour the chateau and learn about the main varietals of the Bordeaux region. End your tour with a tasting of the estate's wines accompanied by an aperitif of local French produce like fresh bread, cheese and charcuterie. You will also enjoy a short wine tasting class where will you will learn the steps of a proper wine tasting and educate your nose to identify the wines’ aromas. 

Lunch: After a morning touring and tasting the best wines in the Medoc, you’ll enjoy a lunch set within the chateau.

After lunch it will be time to drive from the Medoc to the Saint Emilion region.

St.Emilion Chateaux Visit: Your third chateau visit of the tour will be at an intimate, authentic and beautiful chateau in St Emilion. Your guided tour will start in the vineyards in front of the château, followed by a tour of the traditional vat room. At the end of the chateau tour, you will enjoy a wine tasting of the estate’s wines.

3.30 pm: It’s time to explore the famous medieval village of St Emilion. Your guide will explain all there is to know about this charming UNESCO World Heritage Site.

5.30 pm: After your village tour it will be time for the drive back through the vineyards to the centre of Bordeaux.
